If you are suffering from symptoms like depression, anxiety, low energy, brain fog, problems concentrating, attentional challenges, memory difficulties, etc, it is really important to be properly assessed by a qualified health professional. This is because there can be many different potential causes for these symptoms, such as celiac disease, blood sugar regulation problems (such as diabetes), Lyme disease or a whole host of other possible causes.

However, if health professionals are unable to figure out the underlying cause of your symptoms, you may want to seek proper medical support from an integrative health professional around doing an elimination diet. It is incredible what can happen for some individuals who have been struggling with depression and/or anxiety (whose doctors have ruled out all other possible causes for their symptoms) when they completely remove the 3 big kahunas for one month (gluten, dairy and sugar).  These three commonly inflammatory foods can literally cause a great deal of unnecessary “grief” in far too many peoples’ lives!

While you may require or desire a more thorough elimination protocol for proper assessment, many people find that simply experimenting with the elimination of these three common suspects can make a notable difference in the quality of their lives.

When you think about your emotional health and well-being, it is important to realize that how you feel is not only related to how you think. While psychotherapy is a valuable resource to access for greater health, don’t forget that the rest of you (your body included!) may be a crucial factor in your journey back to wellness. Empowerment does involve responsibility—but the benefits of greater health and vitality (sometimes medication-free) far outweigh the costs!!!
